Friends of the Red Mill

Friends of the Red Mill is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to preserving and supporting the historic Red Mill Museum Village as an accessible, engaging, and vital part of our community.

Our goal is to have fun while engaging in activities and building relationships. Some examples include assisting with Red Mill special events, organizing collections/artifacts, fundraising, holiday decorating, textile work, engaging with local speakers, and volunteering in the museum shop.

In addition to their volunteer work, the Friends of the Red Mill host free monthly meetings open to the public. These gatherings feature guest speakers, presentations, light refreshments, and a chance to socialize with fellow history enthusiasts. It's a relaxed and welcoming way for anyone interested to learn more about the museum and the mill's history.

Mickey Stewart (Hospitality)

Mickey has been visiting the Red Mill for at least 40 years and started attending the Friends' meetings about 8 years ago. While working as a secretary for several different companies, she volunteered at the Red Mill gift shop and did some garden maintenance. She has since retired and is now the Hospitality Chair. Two of her grandchildren attended summer camp for three summers! Mickey has always liked "old", and finds that the Red Mill provides her that in this modern age. She also enjoys the informative and interesting monthly speakers, as well as the museums the Friends visit as part of their events.
